The power of community

The power of community is a documentation about how Cuba transitioned from a highly mechanized, industrial agricultural system to one using organic methods of farming and local, urban gardens after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. Today, 80% of Cuba’s agricultural products are organic! I saw this movie last saturday (as part of the documentation cinema at Gentle Actions!) and I think, it’s the first time that I watched a documentation where people applauded in the end. Usually, documentaries make you feel uncomfortable, giving you a feeling of anger and despair. Instead of this, The power of community shows that there is hope and that there are ways and possibilities to become more or less independent from oil, chemical/artificial fertilizers etc.! If Cuba improves the situation of human rights, I think we can definitely learn from this country… I highly recommend you to watch this movie!
