People I Meet

BOUNMI, 32 years
Bounmi volunteered for being my lao-teacher but actually works at the UXO-Survivor Information Center in Phonsavan. In 1996, he lost his left arm due to an UXO-accident – a hard time in his life, followed by depression and thoughts about suicide. Luckily, he got love and support from his family, studied hard and today is such a energetic, optimistic and lovely person! Since he earns quite well for a laotian, he can even support his old parents, sister and girlfriend. Oh and additionally, he is a great and patient language teacher from whom I learn a lot about Lao culture!!

Thanks for everything Bounmi!
